A week ago, I attended my first conference, Create + Cultivate with one of my girlfriends, Joanne from Go fit Jo and also met up with my other blogger gal pal Chelsea from The Millenial Miss in L.A. If you read one of my posts from this past month, I mentioned that I actually won the tickets to this conference! Lucky me, right?! From the vendors to the sponsors and attendees, the energy in the place was exciting and fun! The warehouse was packed with aspiring creatives who were eager to learn from a talented list of panelists, hosts and mentors. It was a pretty long day, (8 AM – 8 PM) but it was informative and encouraging!
So, what did I learn? Dreams don’t work unless YOU do. I learned that investing in myself and in my future requires hard work. When I first started my blog, I didn’t realize the amount of work and time spent behind it. I am still acquiring new things as I go! So far, it has been a little challenging trying to find balance between work and my personal life, but you know what? I am doing what I LOVE! I also learned that building relationships and a strong community is valuable and should be mutually beneficial. They also talked about developing and creating a personal brand, but staying true and authentic to yourself at the same time. This advice was beneficial for me because by staying true to myself, I am able to discover my purpose and capable of following through and reaching my goals with blogging. I left the conference feeling confident, ready to work and tackle on new challenges. Today, I’d like to leave you with a positive reminder in hopes that you will utilize it one day : No matter what you do, keep it honest, simple, and most importantly, keep it YOU. ❤
I have quite a confession to make: I own a lot of black. Black tops, bottoms, shoes etc. You name it, I will mostly likely have it in black. Haha! Why black? Because anything in black looks good until I realized that white is JUST AS GREAT! As much as I love black’s simplicity and slimming effect, I am equally partial to any white ensemble. White is classic, crisp, and eye-catching. I picked up this white blazer and I plan to wear it as much as possible. There are so many ways to wear this season’s must-have. It can easily take you from work (with a tailored pant and pumps) to a girls’ night out (with leather skinnies and a simple tank) to the weekend (with boyfriend jeans and flats or sneakers). I wore my white blazer with a blue silk jumpsuit and paired it with metallic pumps. I also added some gold details with my jewelry because I love how gold looks against white. We all know how easily dirt can get on whites so I do recommend keeping Tide To Go Pens on hand just in case, but other than that, there’s no cooler way to dress! White is oh so right! ❤
I am over the moon excited to announce that I will be attending this year’s Create + Cultivate conference in Los Angeles, a creative workshop hosted by top bloggers, influencers & craftsmen! And exactly how did I score this once in a lifetime opportunity? I entered their ticket giveaway on Instagram and I was picked as the winner just yesterday! WOOHOO! (Thank you guys for picking me by the way!) I still can’t believe that I am going to be rubbing shoulders with the best of the industry and learn from amazing hosts, panelists, and mentors. The lineup this year is crazy good! From Whitney Port @whitneyeveport to The Fat Jew @thefatjewish just to name a few! And Bay Area native and one of my favorite fashion bloggers Aimee Song @songofstyle as one of the keynote speakers? Yes, please! Excuse me while I do my happy dance!
This is going to be such a great opportunity for me to meet fellow bloggers from all over the country in addition to learning tips on how to grow my blog. I started mystyleandgrace just earlier this year and I have been blessed to have such great followers and readers who look up to me and find inspiration in what I do so far. I love the feeling that it leaves me with and it makes me want to keep going and get better in what I do. I am ready to take this to another level and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for me! I have to start making these dreams into reality!
Spring is almost here and I am craving for a transition in my wardrobe! California weather has been kind of tricky these past couple of weeks. One day it’s warm, then the next day is cold and gloomy. Like, what? Stop confusing me! Haha! I don’t like it when the weather interferes with my wardrobe planning. Anybody else feel that way sometimes? Let’s keep it real for a second, this bipolar weather can make wardrobe styling a little bit confusing! I tend to stay away from heavy, winter wear around this time of year because I feel it is unnecessary. When the spring month is near approaching, I am all about lighter fabrics, softer color palettes and less layers.
It’s good to invest in a light spring coat or trench depending on your preference. Trench coats are a great option and the weatherproof ones are pretty darn amazing! Also, choosing the right color is key when it comes to picking out a great spring coat. I am obsessed with light neutrals and pastels because it doesn’t remind me of the dark and cold winter months! I fell in love with this patterned coat in a beautiful powdered pink color because it is so pretty and feminine! The material is enough to keep me cozy when it does get chilly, but not too heavy for when it gets warmer either! It’s a perfect coat that can transition from winter to spring which is why this piece makes a great addition to any wardrobe.
I wear ripped jeans all year round because they’re easy to pair with anything. Whether you are wearing multiple layers or none, dressed up or down, it adds a little edge to your look. I’m wearing my Topshop jeans here and these have been on heavy rotation ever since I got them. It’s a grayish almost black wash (not too dark!) and I loved the fit so much that I stocked up in other colors! To streamline the palette, I paired it with a basic tank in gray (also from Topshop) and my nude, clear heel sandals from Jeffrey Campbell (sold out)! I love the feeling of being able to ditch the boots and socks to show off my pedicures finally! I played around with my jewelry by mixing gold accents with jewel tones to finish this “ready for spring” outfit. I am looking forward to dressing up for the warmer months ahead! Who else is ready to spring forward with me? ❤
