“Not so cold shoulders.”

It’s almost the weekend, guys!  The weather has been amazing here lately (we are so spoiled in California!) that I’ve been shedding off the unnecessary layers when it comes to my wardrobe.  I wanted to show off my sun kissed glow wearing this top from my favorite Aussie brand, Cmeo Collective.  I love the way it highlights my collarbones!  Off the shoulder tops are so effortless that you can wear it with almost ANY bottoms and it looks well put-together.  I don’t normally have red pieces in my closet, but I had to make an exception for this beauty!  Photos doesn’t even do it justice.  I love the heavy fabric and how structured the top is – subtle and sexy without trying too hard.  I have a feeling that this top and I are going to be inseparable all Spring and Summer!  I highly suggest baring those shoulders and collarbones this season, ladies! ❤

“Because pink can be edgy too.”

Oh, Pinks and blushes.  So pretty and delicate to look at.  It’s no wonder that Rose Quartz was picked as Pantone Color of the Year 2016 along with Serenity.  Yes, this color thing is an ACTUAL thing, guys.  The rose tone of my sweater looks so soft and feminine so I decided to add a little edge to it.  Want to know how to achieve this combo?  Here’s my equation: Pink + leather/camo = femme fatale.  I just love the contrast of edgy and soft for that sweet yet daring look.  Throw on some leather or even a military jacket and voila!  I love the way a good ol’ camo jacket looks against soft pinks.  I scored my camo jacket from Asos and guess what?  It’s actually a men’s jacket! Who would’ve guessed?  I love an oversized military jacket and this one goes with almost anything.  My closet would be nothing without this!

*Here’s a quick tip: don’t be afraid to browse the men’s section.  A lot of times, that’s where the goods are!  I love when its #borrowedfromtheboys *

To top it off, add some sunnies and studded boots to bring out your inner cool girl.

So guys, is it time to rethink pink? ❤

P.S. I just noticed that my purse isn’t closed in this photo.  Oops!  #nobodysperfect haha!

“Give thanks with a grateful heart.”

Happy Humpday, everyone!  Can you believe that tomorrow is Thanksgiving already? Seriously, where did the year go?!

I wanted to share a quick, little post before the Thanksgiving holiday starts.  I’m sure many of us are looking forward to the holiday weekend and spending time with our loved ones (that would be ME!).  This year, I have plenty of things to be thankful for. With all that’s happening in the world today,  I’ve learned to appreciate what I have and what God has blessed me with: the big things and the little things.  Growing up, my parents would always remind my sister and I that “there’s someone out there that is happy with less than what you have…” and it taught me how to be grateful.  Thanksgiving isn’t about the turkey and the Black Friday deals.  Spend this time with your loved ones, count your blessings, and be thankful with a grateful heart (everyday).

We are only a few days shy from December and I honestly can’t believe that it’s almost been a year since I started blogging.  Just wanted to let you guys know that I am thankful for all of you for reading my posts and for following along!  Love you guys!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones ❤

P.S. Wearing one sweater = two looks! Enjoy!

“Let’s hear it for the boy(s)”

This a man’s world..this is a man’s world…” Queue James Brown’s “It’s A Man’s Man’s World” because today, I am letting the guys take over.  I am starting a blog series dedicated to well-dressed gentlemen because I am the gal who likes to borrow from the boys and it doesn’t hurt to steal a little #manspiration from these fellas. ❤

I’ve known this guy for quite some time now (maybe 10 years or so?) and his style and casual attitude has always caught my eye.  Now that he’s thousands of miles away, he’s still my go-to person for fashion advice.  I applaud his simplicity and his love for solid tees and leather.  It’s no surprise that I picked him to kick off my #fashionablefellas blog series!

1. Describe your personal style.
Honestly… As people will roll their eyes from my answer, I can’t describe my style. Because the term or action of “style” is something that’s innate in a person. Meaning it’s who they are. Style is a personality. We all sleep and walk a certain way. And how we choose to express ourselves is part of that inner projection. That’s where people get extremely confused with style and fashion. Style is a characteristic. Fashion is What you see at Barneys or in a magazine spread. I basically wear the same thing everyday. It’s become my personal uniform.
2. Who are you most influenced by?  Style icons?
My grandfathers. They always made sure they were pressed when they went out. And when they were chillin. They’d have those 1 pair of jeans that they broke in for years giving it that unique true lived-in look, Along with that same white tee that you could tell had stories in its own. From sitting on the porch to gardening.
As far as style icons- I dig Julian Casablancas, Brandon Flowers, David Beckham and Kristen Crawley.
3. What’s one item in your closet that you can’t live without? Why is that?
I would have to say my black Alexander McQueen suit with the rolled shoulders.
I’m a suit guy. If I could wear a suit everyday I would. But I live in Hawaii. The suit fit me off the rack. And that’s hard to come by if you know how to wear a suit. Imma be honest… Designer or not, 80% of men wear horribly fitted suits. Get Measurements fellas.
4. Tell us what you’re wearing! (see photos)
My t-shirt is Sandro. My jeans are Balmain 2011 last of Decarnin. The waxing that Christophe does doesn’t wear down like the newer pieces. Leather Jacket is by Junya Watanabe. The painted stripe on the back is what got me. It cracked and chipped with wear. Boots by Saint Laurent. And my bracelet is Cartier. Oh. The cigarette is Nat Sherman. Hahaha.

The next stylish fella is a blogger AND model.  One of the very few male fashion bloggers that I follow on Instagram (@tom_and_toms) simply because I am a fan of his “rugged but polished” look.  Give him a utility shirt and he can make it look effortlessly cool.  I guess it’s safe to say that he is one of my favorites!

1. Describe your personal style.
My personal style is workman, I suppose. I wear generally wear denim, leather, and boots (season permitting). I like to look like a man (although I wear skinny jeans, this is because I have chicken legs lol) I do like to throw in some tailoring and Preppy looks here and there. I quite like an Oxford shirt and a denim jacket or a blazer and boots combo. I prefer to look made up but not over done and a little manly.
2. Who are you most influenced by?  Style icons?
I’m influenced by literally everything I see, whether it’s on social, print or online media. I’m inflicted by the music I like, folk, indie, old rock, 60’s, 70’s. In term of people I really like David Beckham’s personal style, as well as Alex turner. I’m a big fan of Ricki Hall, Bill Huxley and Chris John Millington, as well. I probably dress most like Chris John Millington ( minus the tattoos).
3. What’s one item in your closet that you can’t live without? Why is that?
My favourite item of clothing is a plain  white T-shirt , this can be crew neck, scoop neck or a Henley. I love wearing white and it goes with everything, especially well with a denim/leather jacket , jeans and boots. It is an item everyone should have and everyone should wear the hell out of.
4. Tell us what you’re wearing! (see photos)
In my photo, I’m pretty much wearing my normal day to day wear. T-shirt is by ASOS, denim jacket by Topman, jeans by Cheap Monday and boots by Zara.

The accessories are from ASOS, River Island , and some are just made by me.

Stay tuned for more of my #fashionablefellas posts.  Hope you guys are having a great Monday so far!

“Fringe benefits in the summer”

Hi guys!  It’s been a while since my last post and I must say that it feels good to be back! Summer’s been keeping me occupied with plans left and right and now I can finally wind down a little before the end of the month for my bestie’s bachelorette party!  Yay!  I am looking forward to this little getaway and I can’t wait to show you my little “GNO” (Girls Night Out) outfit, so please stay tuned for that!

But for now, can we talk about camel suede?  Fringe?  Camel suede AND fringe?  Could these two possibly be the best combination ever?  Ok.  Maybe not the best, but this is definitely in my top five!

I remember the first time I fell in love with fringe: Mia Sara AKA Sloane Peterson from the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off wore this white leather fringe jacket with shorts and boots.  “OH YEAH.”  I wish I looked THAT good while I playing hooky. Man, Sloane was the coolest and I wanted to be just like her!

Suede.  There’s not much I can say about suede, but the look and feel of it just screams luxurious.  I bought my first suede jacket in high school and I wore that thing loud and proud when I posed for my “Best Dressed” yearbook photo (#tbt photo upon request). I thought I was so cool and walked down the hallways like it was my runway. #truestory

Given that it is summer and the temperatures have been high, I opted for a vest instead of a jacket for this look.  Camel suede looks amazing against white so I wore this off the shoulder top underneath.  By now you should know that I love to recycle my old pieces, so I gave my old denim Levi’s maxi that I’ve had since high school a makeover and ended up with a destroyed mini.  With a few snips and a few rips here and there, I was able to turn my boring ol’ maxi into a cute mini skirt!  I wore my favorite leopard booties and some classic aviators to complete the outfit.  It was a treat shooting this look because fringe sways while you walk and I love that added drama!  Talk about fringe benefits! ❤

“Pass the hat”

Happy Thursday everyone!  It is almost the weekend and I am looking forward to it!  I wanted to share with you one of my favorite looks and I hope you like it.  🙂

A hat is one of my favorite accessories and I am always on a hunt for more to add to my growing collection! It is perfect when you are having a bad hair day or you simply want to take that simple outfit to the next level.  I found this gorgeous hat at Madewell and I was surprised on how it actually fit my tiny head because most hats are huge on me!  The ribbon detail adds a little character which I love!

I dressed my black lace slip (any simple LBD will do!) and warmed it up with a rich autumn hued, oversized sweater (obsessed with anything berry right now).  To anchor the look, I chose my Senso leopard booties because I love a leopard accent with anything!  It just makes any outfit perk up and to me, it’s all about having fun!

Sometimes during California winters, I just want to be able to wish the chill away, but I have grown to embrace the lower temperatures with some chic styling but keeping it cozy at the same time.  And to make my simplest looks stand out, I just top it off with a hat! ❤
