Bittersweet Fall.

9.22.16

Today marks the first day of the Fall Solstice.  It’s one of my favorite seasons, but this year feels bittersweet.  A month ago on August 22, my dad entered the gates of Heaven. The past few weeks have been heavy on my heart.  There are no words to explain the unbearable heartache, but because I am an extension of my father, I will try to live everyday through him and for him, honoring him in everything that he taught me in life. Living with just half of my heart now, but I choose to let light and God’s Grace in to help me live stronger with more love and compassion.

With that said, I’m going to keep blogging with even more passion and move forward from here on.  After all, my dad was my biggest fan and if he were still here today, he’d encourage me to keep going.

Thank you all for being understanding and sticking with me during this difficult time of my life.  I appreciate each one of you. ❤

“Currently Coveting – All things blush!”

Hi guys!  I wanted to start a new series of things that I’m “currently coveting” on my blog!  Right now, I am obsessed with anything blush!  From shoes to bags, I just can’t get enough of this color.  Definitely my favorite hue this season!  Check out my current faves below:

“How do I wear bralette crop tops? Come see!”

Hey guys!  I’m back with an outfit post finally!  Woo hoo!

Summer is here and the heat is on!  Crop tops have been a major summer staple for a while now.  If you have rocked this look, then you’re most likely going to like the bralette/crop top combo like the one I’m wearing here.  When I tried this top on, I fell in love with it, but didn’t have the guts to wear it by itself.  I just thought that it was a little too daring for me, so my denim jacket came to the rescue!  Problem solved. Layering it with any piece of outerwear will give your outfit a more relaxed, but subtle sexy look.  Balance plays a major role on how to wear a bralette crop top:  Opt for something high-waisted (pants, skirt, shorts) to make it look less risqué.  I like when a bit of skin is showing and most of the mid drift is covered.  Classy is key!

Many of you know about the Nordstrom anniversary sale that’s going on now. Guess what?  This top just went on sale!  Grab it while it’s hot!  Happy shopping ❤

“Confessions of a self-described introvert.”

“You can’t pour from an empty cup.  Take care of yourself first.”

Occasionally people will ask me “How do you keep up with the increasing pressure to communicate through social media as a blogger?”  Truth is, I get overwhelmed without a doubt by continuous conversations on multiple platforms.  The challenge in blogging for me is that you have to engage a lot.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my readers and being able to share my creativity through my blog…I wouldn’t be where I am now without YOU!  (LOVE YOU GUYS!)

Although some days, I just want to be a hermit.  Us introverts have this natural advantage in knowing how to disconnect.  It’s just our way to get our energy back.  I feel that it’s hard for extroverts to understand that even though we may have strong social skills/enjoy events and business meetings etc., we would much rather be at home in our pajamas.  To get our energy back from being socially drained, we just need quiet time to be back to ourselves.  I crave that space because it gives me a fresh perspective and energy to be able to interact with others again.  So when I’m quiet and MIA on social media, don’t take it personal!  I just have to getaway for a little to refill.  Thank you guys for allowing me to keep it real! ❤

P.S. A new outfit post is coming up after I take a little mental break.  Stay tuned!

“Birthday suit”

6.20.16

Today marks the first day of summer and also my birthday.  To be honest, (let’s keep it real for a sec) I really wasn’t excited about my birthday this year, but I thought about being given another year is a privilege that is denied to many people.  I’ve decided that from here on, I’m going to just count my blessings and not my birthdays.  Today is definitely a gift. #blessed

Thank you all for the birthday wishes, texts, phone calls…also, thank you for being part of my blogging journey.  I don’t know where we are headed, but I am so grateful that along the way, you’ve been with ME.  Thanks for your continuous love and support, I appreciate all of it!  My heart sings with gratitude ❤

“My everyday (foolproof) outfit formula”

Hey all!  I’m back with a new outfit post!  I’ve suffered from really bad migraines lately, so it’s been a little difficult to write new content.  I’m pleased to say that I’m feeling okay today and hoping not to relapse.  Migraines are no fun!

On a lighter note, it’s Father’s day today!  Many of you are probably going out to brunch this morning and could use an outfit inspiration.  I love a simple and casual “brunch” outfit without looking overdone.  I have an outfit formula that (and I swear by this) is easy and efficient.

Here is the foolproof equation:

  • One basic – Basics to me are closet staples: plain tees, jeans or a skirt, slip dresses etc.  In this outfit, the slip dress is the basic piece.
  • One interest/statement piece – Anything that has color, textures or patterns.  The slip dress also falls in this category because of the metallic, shimmery material.
  • One completer – This could be a jacket or sweater.  My jean jacket and I go hand in hand per usual and instead of wearing it, I tied it around my waist for added depth.  Since it’s warm now (hello summer!), you could do a statement accessory like a scarf, hat, belt.
  • Accessories – These are pieces that you don’t normally leave the house without.  I”m talking, purses, jewelry, shoes and sunglasses.  My backpack and shoes anchor the outfit and of course, sunglasses.  If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know that no My Style and Grace outfit isn’t complete without my sunnies!

I hope you will use this formula to create outfits that are fun and interesting!  If you do, please feel free to share and tag me!  Happy Sunday ❤

“#CoachSpring2016 Campaign”

Hey guys!  I feel like it’s been a while since my last blog post.  I’ve been on duty and on the go lately so it’s been a challenge trying to keep up!  I’m finally blogging about my Instagram project/collaboration with Coach for their #CoachSpring2016 campaign.  I am honored (and thrilled!) to be a part of such a fun project!  I spent the day in San Francisco with the help of my sister, Gladys (photographer extraordinaire) and much-needed assistance from my good friend, Andrea.  This shoot wouldn’t have been possible without you two, so thank you!

We shot two looks throughout the city featuring The Coach Swagger 20 mini bag and the C101 Low Top Sneaker.  Hope you guys like it!

Look #1:

Let me tell you about the cutest little bag: The Coach Swagger 20.  This pretty little thing matches my petite frame, but still makes room for my daily essentials.  It also comes with a strap if you’re a hands-free type of gal.  Perfect for roaming around in the city when you’re always on the go like me!

Look #2:

The white sneaker is the most coveted pair of shoes that are in every fashionista’s closet lately.  They’re cute, comfortable, and will go with just about everything.  The pink stitching on my Coach C101 Low Tops brings a nice feminine touch!  What’s not to love about these?  Heart emojis all the way!

“The must have sandal this season!”

Happy Friday, everyone!  With summer fast-approaching, I’ve spent many hours spring cleaning AKA my annual closet purge.  The hardest part was letting go of my favorite pieces, but let’s be honest here: less is more.  It’s really not the quantity in your closet, but it’s having well-chosen pieces that you love and serve you well.  I made lots of room in my closet this year and adding to my collection is the must have sandal this season: the chunky platform sandal.  Chunky trend is here to stay and will be everywhere this season.  The platforms give you the comfort of a flat with a little extra lift for added height!  I’m barely 5’2 tall, and these babies give me a little extra boost! These are perfect for trekking around the city and an upgrade from my trusted pair of Birkenstocks.  Also, they look good with pretty much anything from shorts to dresses! This is a trend that you want to be a part of, no matter what height.  So, are you in on the chunky sandal trend?

“Shoe game strong.”

Hi all!  I hope everybody had a wonderful Easter last weekend!  I celebrated Easter Sunday as well as my sister’s birthday up in Tahoe with our closest friends and we had a blast!  We played in the snow (brrr…), hung out by the lake, did a little hike…it was the perfect weekend!  Now it’s back to reality, folks.  It’s the first of the month (Hello, April!) and it’s the weekend once more.  Time sure flies.

Anyways, let’s get down to business, shall we?  Are you looking to boost your shoe game up?  Do you ever get bored wearing the same ‘ol boring shoes over and over? Undeniably a yes for me, until I discovered sheer socks.  This is an offbeat shoe-styling trick that for sure stepped up my shoe game ultimately.  If you’re a little unsure, play it safe and stick with neutrals.  As for me, I love print so I went with sheer polka dots!  So fun!  I’m wearing a little slip dress here (subtle, but sexy!) with a structured blazer. My metallic oxfords are rather flashy and I feel that the black blazer along with the matching black socks sets the tone down a bit.   Chic and cool AF!  Give it a try if you’re feeling fashionably adventurous!

Have a great weekend, everyone!  XO ❤

“Olive you so much.”

There’s one color that I can’t get enough of:  Olive green.  This shade looks good on everybody and looks good in pretty much everything.  Instead of the popular olive bomber jacket we’ve seen everywhere, I opted for something lightweight to tackle Spring temperatures and can be used in the Summer as well:  an olive-green chambray button down.  I’ve gone through a few of these over the years and have worn them over maxi dresses, denim, shorts…you name it.  All you have to do is throw it on to anchor an outfit.  I did a little pop of color with an orange cami because it goes with khaki tones so well.  Since the pieces I have on are a bit on the baggy side, I decided to wear heels for added height (balance is key, ladies!).  And as far as my accessories go, leopard and stripes go hand in hand here (yes, you can mix patterns as long as the colors match!).  Lastly, can’t have a My Style and Grace outfit without sunglasses and these mirrored lovelies are everything.  To my go to shirt this season: Olive you so much ❤
